Kennedy Space Center

On February 22nd, 2009

The John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC) is the NASA space vehicle launch facility and Launch Control Center (spaceport) on Merritt Island, Brevard County, Florida, United States. The site is near Cape Canaveral, midway between Miami and Jacksonville, Florida. It is 34 miles (55 km) long and around 6 miles (10 km) wide, covering 219 square miles (567 km2). A total of 13,500 people work at the site as of early 2008. There is a visitor center and public tours; KSC is a major tourist destination for visitors to Florida. Because much of KSC is a restricted area and only nine percent of the land is developed, the site also serves as an important wildlife sanctuary; Mosquito Lagoon, Indian River, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and Canaveral National Seashore are also features of this area. The American Flag painted on the Vehicle Assembly Building was the largest in the world at the time of the VAB’s construction, and has stars that measure 6 feet in diameter. The stripes would be wide enough to drive a bus down if it were laid out horizontally.

Monster Jam in Raymond James Stadium

On February 21st, 2009

Monster Jam is a live motorsport event tour and television show operated by Feld Entertainment. The series is sanctioned under the umbrella of the United States Hot Rod Association (USHRA) and takes place primarily in the United States. Although individual event formats can vary greatly based on the “intermission” entertainment, the main attraction is always the racing and freestyle competitions by monster trucks.

Very spectacular! Trucks look so giants that we seem to be so tiny, it’s like Transformers lol We had a very good time even though we arrived very late (and missed the first part of the show). Lesson of the day: leave early at this kind of events, one hour before is not enough…

So winners are:

Monster Jam Racing Winner Monster Jam Freestyle Winner
Gunslinger Taz

Talking about the freestyle winner, his last move was awesome: he just threw himself for the show!

An American show like we love it :)

Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa Bay

On February 1st, 2009

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Arizona Cardinals

This year, the Super Bowl takes place in Tampa Bay and I’m not in town lol but no way, we plan to watch the game on TV like million Americans. For this event, you have to buy lots of dips foods like chips and chicken wings with beers!

Even if I was in town, I wasn’t able to go to a bar in Tampa because there is so much peoples (and traffic) and that it takes tons of hours to get in. And you know that some tickets are sold more than $1,000? Same price to rent a place close to the stadium to see the game. It’s amazing!

And today is my last day in SF. I would like to say thanks again to my friends, it was so good to see you. Take care guys!

So congratulations Steelers for winning the championship. The final score is 27 - 23. And when I came back the next day, arriving to Tampa airport, I saw this:

Of course, Cardinals goodies were on sale…

Santana Row

On February 1st, 2009

Santana Row is a nice place to take a walk a sunday afternoon in SF. I like the way how they decorate the place, it remembers me a mall close to where I live in France (Val d’Europe for french people - okay Santana Row is 100 times nicer than Val d’Europe but they should copy that style). Otherwise, let me introduce you 2 little puppies: Nala & Pepper. They are so cute!
